Minera Panama has the expectation that the negotiations for the new contract will be a mutually beneficial relationship for both parties, based on the “win-win” principle

Today, the official installation of the negotiation table for a new concession contract with Minera Panama took place.

The Minister of Commerce and Industries, Ramón Martínez, who leads the negotiation team designated by the President of the Republic, emphasized that the sessions will address various topics related to economic, fiscal, environmental, labor, and social aspects. The goal is to ensure that the mining operation meets international standards of best practices.

Martínez warned that if an agreement is not reached on the proposed terms, other negotiation options with different companies will be explored. According to the minister, the current conditions will not be maintained.

On the other hand, Minera Panama issued a statement expressing its confidence that the process beginning today will be transparent, thorough, and robust for the benefit of the country. The company hopes for a negotiation that respects both the best interests of the State and the acquired rights of the company, seeking the best results for Panama.

In this regard, Manuel Aizpurúa, spokesperson and member of the company’s negotiation team, emphasized the importance of the negotiation table being a space of respect towards private investment and legal certainty. The objective is to achieve a beneficial outcome for all parties involved and for the country, in a win-win dynamic.
