The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis is set to welcome a new exhibit that celebrates diversity and inclusion in the world of Disney. Titled “Tiana’s Joyful Celebration”, the exhibit is dedicated to Disney’s first Black princess and her inspiring story. This interactive exhibit will give children and families the opportunity to learn about Tiana’s journey and experience the magic of her story firsthand.
The exhibit, which is set to open on July 17th, is a collaboration between The Walt Disney Company and the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis. It will feature a wide range of activities and displays that highlight Tiana’s vibrant culture and her unwavering determination to achieve her dreams. From cooking demonstrations to music and dance performances, the exhibit promises to be a celebration of all things Tiana.
For those who may not be familiar with Tiana’s story, she is the main character in Disney’s 2009 animated film “The Princess and the Frog”. Set in the city of New Orleans, Tiana is a hardworking and ambitious young woman who dreams of owning her own restaurant. Along the way, she faces numerous challenges and learns the importance of staying true to herself and never giving up on her dreams.
“Tiana’s Joyful Celebration” will not only showcase the vibrant and colorful world of New Orleans, but it will also highlight the importance of representation and diversity in media. Tiana’s character is a symbol of empowerment for young Black girls, and this exhibit aims to inspire them to dream big and know that they are capable of achieving anything.
The exhibit will feature a replica of Tiana’s famous restaurant, Tiana’s Palace, where children can role-play as chefs and serve up some of her signature dishes. There will also be a costume area where children can dress up in traditional Mardi Gras attire, as well as a section dedicated to Tiana’s love for music and her iconic songs from the movie.
One of the highlights of the exhibit will be a meet and greet with Tiana herself. Children will have the opportunity to interact with the beloved princess and take photos with her. This will be a magical experience for children to meet and connect with a character who represents diversity and determination.
After its run at the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis, “Tiana’s Joyful Celebration” will travel to other museums across the country, spreading its message of inclusivity and inspiring children everywhere. The exhibit serves as a reminder that representation matters, and that every child deserves to see themselves represented in the media they consume.
The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis has always been committed to promoting diversity and inclusion, and “Tiana’s Joyful Celebration” is a perfect addition to their mission. The museum’s president and CEO, Dr. Jeffrey H. Patchen, believes that the exhibit will be a valuable learning experience for children and families.
“We are excited to bring Tiana’s story to life in such a fun and interactive way,” says Dr. Patchen. “This exhibit celebrates diversity and teaches children the importance of embracing different cultures and backgrounds. We hope it will inspire children to chase their dreams, just like Tiana did.”
In a world where representation and diversity are becoming increasingly important, “Tiana’s Joyful Celebration” is a step in the right direction. It not only celebrates the achievements of Disney’s first Black princess but also encourages children to embrace their own identities and be proud of who they are.
The exhibit will run at the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis from July 17th to October 17th, and tickets are now available for purchase. Don’t miss this opportunity to experience the magic of “Tiana’s Joyful Celebration” and be a part of this joyful celebration of diversity and inclusion.
