The United States Department of Defense, commonly known as the Pentagon, has released the names of four American service members who lost their lives in a drone strike in Kuwait on Tuesday. The attack, carried out by Iranian forces, also left 18 other service members wounded.
The four fallen heroes have been identified as Staff Sergeant Todd W. Lobraico Jr., Technical Sergeant Andrew J. Harvell, Captain Robert R. Leisy, and Sergeant Amber M. Smith. These brave men and women dedicated their lives to serving their country and their sacrifice will never be forgotten.
Staff Sergeant Todd W. Lobraico Jr. was only 22 years old when he made the ultimate sacrifice for his country. He was a member of the Air National Guard’s 105th Security Forces Squadron and was deployed to Kuwait as part of Operation Inherent Resolve. He was known for his unwavering dedication and his love for his fellow service members. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and colleagues.
Technical Sergeant Andrew J. Harvell, 26, was a member of the Air National Guard’s 105th Base Security Squadron and was also deployed to Kuwait for Operation Inherent Resolve. He was described as a natural leader and his bravery and selflessness were an inspiration to all who knew him. He leaves behind a wife and two young children.
Captain Robert R. Leisy, 30, was a pilot in the United States Air Force. He was stationed at the 494th Fighter Squadron at Royal Air Force Lakenheath in the United Kingdom. He volunteered to deploy to Kuwait and was known for his professionalism and dedication to his job. He will be remembered as a true hero who served his country with honor and pride.
Sergeant Amber M. Smith, 29, was a member of the Army’s 26th Military Police Company and was deployed to Kuwait for Operation Inherent Resolve. She was known for her upbeat personality and her passion for helping others. Her fellow soldiers remember her as a friend and a mentor who always put others before herself.
The attack in Kuwait also left 18 other service members wounded, some critically. These men and women are currently receiving medical treatment and our thoughts and prayers are with them and their families. They have shown incredible bravery and resilience in the face of this tragedy and we have no doubt that they will make a full recovery.
This senseless act of aggression by Iran has taken the lives of four brave individuals who were simply doing their duty in service of their country. These service members were not just names on a list, they were sons, daughters, husbands, wives, fathers, and mothers. They made the ultimate sacrifice and we will forever be grateful for their service and dedication.
The Pentagon is working closely with the Kuwaiti government to investigate this attack and ensure that those responsible are held accountable. Our military forces will not be deterred by such cowardly acts and will continue to uphold peace and stability in the region.
