Governor Mara Lezama was a guest at the XV Congress of the Confederation of Autonomous Workers and Employees of Mexico (CATEM), where she was joined by Claudia Sheinbaum, the National Coordinator of the Committees for the Defense of the Fourth Transformation.
At the event in Mexico City, Governor Lezama reiterated her full support for and partnership with Claudia Sheinbaum, sitting alongside her at the head table with other officials, including Mario Delgado, the leader of Morena.
The CATEM congress serves as an important forum for discussions with union leaders aimed at improving labor conditions, especially for workers in Quintana Roo.
This union, founded 15 years ago, now represents around 7 million members across 1,192 different labor organizations.
Pedro Haces, the union leader, expressed his gratitude to Sheinbaum, saying, “Thank you, Dr. Claudia Sheinbaum, for making time in your schedule. First, you governed my homeland, which I’m proud to call Tlálpan; then you governed this city where we are today, and soon we will see what’s coming. A first-rate woman, thank you, dear friend.”
In response, Sheinbaum formally announced her coalition with the union.
“Next Monday, we will officially begin the pre-campaign for the Presidency of the Republic, and I invite you all to join us in this process. I am committed to continuing the defense of workers’ salaries and benefits because we know that when workers thrive, businesses and Mexico as a whole thrive,” she stated.
