He is a Costa Rican economist and the current president of the Regional Executive Boards of the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI). He recently concluded his term as Minister of Finance and Vice President of Costa Rica in 2014. During his tenure, Calvo laid a strong foundation for the country’s economic development and reform.
In the past, he has worked in various capacities for the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the World Bank, and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP). He has also held important positions in Costa Rica’s public sector, including as the Director of the Central Bank of Costa Rica and as the Secretary of Finance and Public Credit. Calvo has been instrumental in the development and implementation of several important programs aimed at poverty reduction and economic stability.
The two economists have been working together to ensure that Latin American economies remain stable and prosper.
